Lott Posts Double-Double In Loss At Towson

TOWSON, Maryland – Nicole Lott posted a double-double and Meredith Peacock added six kills and seven blocks, but it was Towson who would sweep the Seahawks, 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-16), in a key Colonial Athletic Association match on Sunday at SECU Arena.

The Tigers ran their record to an impressive 23-4 overall and moved into second place in the conference standings with a 10-3 record. The Seahawks saw their modest three-match winning streak halted and fell to 18-6 and 9-3 in league play.

"Towson played exceptional today and you could tell they were seeking revenge," said UNW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. "I think we need to learn to be a bit more strong-minded and savvy on offense to create more kills for us."

Jessica Lewis held match-high honors for the Tigers with 19 kills and a .375 hitting average. She rounded out her own double-double with 12 digs. Jocelyn Kulian chipped in 11 kills and Anna Holehouse had 23 digs, a match-high.

Lott led a UNCW offense that manufactured just 34 kills with 10 while Kristen Powell had nine. Lott's 11 digs led the Seahawks.

"We have a lot of time to improve as a team this season and I know our players will be ready to work hard and prepare for our next opponent."

Up next: The Seahawks host William & Mary on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in Hanover Hall.

How it happened: Towson had 17 more kills than the Seahawks and finished the afternoon with a .241 hitting average. The Tigers were solid on the defensive side as well, posting 65 digs and not allowing a service ace.

Notes: UNCW finishes the weekend in third place, Towson is second AND James Madison continues to lead the league … The loss for UNCW was just the second time it was swept this season (Duke, 9/12) … The setback was also UNCW's third on the road this season, but the Seahawks are an impressive 8-3 on the road … Nicole Lott passed the 800-career kill mark and is 14th all-time at UNCW with 807.
