BOSTON, Mass. – The UNCW men's basketball team looks to bounce back from Saturday's league-opening loss when the Seahawks travel to Boston for a Monday night clash against preseason Colonial Athletic Association favorite Northeastern at venerable Matthews Arena.

The Seahawks, 5-7 and 0-1, are used to being away from home. The club has played eight of its 12 games on the road early in the 2014-15 campaign, with a four-game slide intact heading into the 2 p.m. tip-off in Beantown.

Coach Kevin Keatts and his team had revamped Hofstra on the ropes in Saturday's 68-56 loss to the Pride before Coach Joe Mihalich's team rallied back in the second period. The Seahawks limited the Pride to 21.2 percent shooting in the opening 20 minutes, but the Pride got untracked and outscored UNCW, 43-20, after intermission to pull out the win.

Keatts used his fourth different starting lineup of the season in Saturday's battle with Hofsta. Freddie Jackson, Craig Ponder and Addison Spruill have started all 12 contests in 2014-15. The new Seahawk skipper added C.J. Gettys to the mix on Saturday and gave freshman playmaker Jordon Talley his first collegiate start.

Monday marks the 15th meeting between the Seahawks and Huskies. NU leads the series, 8-6, but the two teams have split the last six meetings. After UNCW won three of the first four games in the tight series, the Huskies have taken seven of the last 10 matchups.

UNCW stands 1-6 at Matthews Arena, however, and has dropped its last two outings in the 5,060-seat facility. The Seahawks made their first appearance at Matthews on Dec. 2, 2006, losing 58-51. Last year's matchup in Boston went into overtime before NU prevailed, 79-68, in its CAA debut on Jan. 8, 2014.

Scott Eatherton, a 6-9, 235-pound forward, recorded his 11th double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds in the overtime decision in Boston. The Seahawks scored eight points in the final 37 seconds of regulation to force overtime, but couldn't contain the Huskies. NU outscored UNCW, 21-10, in the extra period.

In the last game between UNCW and NU played on Feb. 13, 2014, UNCW held NU to a season-low 45 points en route to a 55-45 victory at Trask Coliseum. In a game rescheduled due to a surprise winter ice storm, the Seahawks held the Huskies to 32.1 percent shooting and forced 13 turnovers. Craig Ponder came off the bench to pace the Seahawks with 11 points and reserve forward Dylan Sherwood continued a late-season resurgence with 10 points for the Seahawks..

The Seahawks opened this year's NU trip in interesting fashion. An early-morning flight out of Wilmington was delayed early Sunday, causing Keatts and his team to arrive late in Charlotte and miss their connecting flight to Boston. The team is scheduled to arrive in Boston on Monday to prepare for the CAA matchup.

UNCW stands 3-1 at Trask Coliseum this season after winning successive games against St. Andrews and Liberty followed by Saturday's defeat to Hofstra.

After the test in Boston, the Seahawks return to the coast to entertain defending CAA champion Delaware on Thursday, Jan. 8, and Drexel on Saturday, Jan. 10, in back-to-back home games at Trask Coliseum, where the Seahawks lead the CAA in attendance.

Monday's game can be heard on the Seahawk Digital Network via UNCWsports.com. Fans should click on the "Live Events" button on the top right-hand corner of the main page and follow the prompts for the free broadcast. A 15-minute pregame show kicks off the coverage followed by first-half coverage, a 15-minute halftime show, second-half action and a 15-minute post-game show.
