Men's Soccer Looks To Take Down #25 Campbell

Two program meeting for 49th time in series

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – For the second time in as many games, UNCW will look to topple a nationally-ranked opponent when it visits #25 Campbell on Tuesday at the Eakes Athletics Complex. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

The Seahawks are riding high following a 2-1 come-from-behind win at South Carolina last Friday. Trailing 1-0 in the ninth minute, the Seahawks went on to lock down the Gamecock offense, allowing just five shots and a corner kick on the night.

While the defense was stifling the USC offense, Freddy Nzekele was able to tie the game for UNCW in the 41st minute with his second goal of the season. For the sophomore striker, it was his second game-tying goal of the season.

With the Seahawks controlling play, UNCW broke through in the 82nd minute for the game-winner as Jamie Dell drove home the go-ahead goal after USC was unable to clear a corner kick. Brayden Smith, who was named Colonial Athletic Association Rookie-of-the-Week, took a shot that was blocked and bounded to Dell, who ripped a shot from yards out for the goal.

The Seahawks and Camels have played 48 matches entering Tuesday night's game in Buies Creek. The Camels moved into the top 25 with a 3-0 mark under fifth-year head coach Steve Armas.

The game will be streamed on the Big South Network for free. A link to the stream can be found at the top of the article.

Following the Campbell game, UNCW will close out its three-game road stretch with a 7 p.m. start at former conference rival Old Dominion in Norfolk.
