With more than 15 years of facilities and operations experience at three different institutions, Mike Cherry brings a wealth of knowledge into his position as Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Event Management.
A native of Ballson Spa, N.Y., Cherry joined the Seahawk staff in July of 2018 after stops at East Carolina, Binghamton and Stetson. He was promoted to Associate Athletic Director in April of 2019.
A 2003 graduate of East Carolina, Cherry launched his career at his alma mater as Assistant Director of Operations and Athletic Facilities. Cherry served as Game Management Director for several Pirate sports, supervised staff and coordinated day-to-day operations for multiple departments, and developed new safety procedures for all athletic events.
In April of 2013, Cherry headed to upstate New York as Associate Athletic Director of Facilities and Operations at Binghamton. Cherry worked as the building administrator for a facility that hosted a variety of athletic and external events and provided leadership and direction to the facilities and operations department at Binghamton.
Cherry returned to the south in October of 2015. As Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and Operations at Stetson, Cherry collaborated with various departments to successfully maintain athletic facilities and manage events for 18 Division I varsity sports.
Cherry earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training at ECU in 2001 and completed his M.A. in Athletic Administration at ECU in 2003. He also has a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science from ECU.
Cherry enjoys exploring the sights of Wilmington and spending time with his wife, Mindi, and son, Braxton.
