On June 24, 2025, Kiersten Klekner-Alt joined UNCW as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. Klekner-Alt brings a wealth of experience in NCAA compliance and student-athlete programming, most recently serving as Associate Athletic Director and Director of Compliance at Youngstown State.
In her role at Youngstown State, Klekner-Alt led the department's NCAA compliance office, acting as the primary compliance liaison for football and a handful of Olympic sports. She oversaw student-athlete programming and served as the sport supervisor for the golf and swimming & diving programs.
Prior to her tenure at Youngstown State, Klekner-Alt served as Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Eastern Illinois, where she oversaw NCAA compliance and served as an adjunct professor for sports law.
Klekner-Alt holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences with joint honors in philosophy and political science from the University of Ottawa, graduating with Cum Laude honors. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Southern Illinois School of Law in 2018.
