Jack Mehrtens (’21, ’23M) was named Associate Athletics Director for Revenue Generation in March of 2026. Mehrtens began his career in collegiate athletics as a student manager, walk-on student-athlete, and graduate assistant with the UNCW Seahawks men's basketball program under Head Coach Takayo Siddle. He was part of the Seahawks’ 2021–22 CAA regular season and CBI Tournament championship teams.
He transitioned into professional sports in 2022 with the Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets.
During his time with the Swarm, Mehrtens helped the organization exceed its annual revenue goals while directly managing more than 40 corporate partnerships. He played a key role in new business development and partnership activation, consistently identifying growth opportunities and strengthening client relationships.
Mehrtens joined FC Cincinnati in 2024 as Manager of Partnership Marketing, where he led multi-million-dollar sponsorship initiatives and managed the club’s highest-value corporate partnership. He developed and executed strategies for more than 20 partnerships, generating approximately $9 million in annual revenue, helping position the organization among Major League Soccer’s leaders in sponsorship revenue and partner retention.
In his current role, Mehrtens focuses on driving external revenue growth for UNCW Athletics with a focus on corporate sponsorships. He works closely with athletics and campus leadership to enhance revenue performance and strengthen fan engagement efforts.
Mehrtens earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from UNCW in 2021 and his Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from UNCW in 2023.
