2026 Conally Owen

Conally Owen

Conally Owen is a Licensed Mental Health Provider who specializes in working with student-athletes. In his role, he will provide direct clinical services, as well as assist with education and resources to help support the holistic development and well-being of student-athletes at UNCW.
 
A student-athlete might schedule with Conally for the following concerns, among others:
  • Stress/feeling overwhelmed
  • Anxiety or overthinking
  • Relationships, family, or life outside of sport
  • Grief & loss
  • Homesickness
  • Injury, transition, or changes in role
  • Balancing academics, athletics, & life
  • Sleep or eating concerns
  • Feeling depressed or sad
  • Or simply just having a confidential space to talk & problem solve
Conally completed his undergraduate education at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. He went on to teach high school after receiving his Master of Arts in Teaching from Duke University. Conally later attended UNCW for his Master of Social Work and has since spent seven years working as a counselor in the college counseling setting. Conally additionally completed a post-Master's level Fellowship at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Counseling and Psychological Services in 2019.
 
Conally loves to incorporate self-compassion and mindfulness work into sessions. He works primarily from the models of strengths-based solution focused therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Conally’s experience gives him an extensive understanding of the specific needs of college student-athletes. He is deeply committed to supporting and empowering student-athletes through mental health and well-being services.

Outside of work, Conally enjoys running, traveling, and spending time at the beach with his wife and two daughters.
