Alyssa Brito, a three-time National Champion and two-time First-Team All-American at Oklahoma, joined the UNCW softball program as an assistant coach in August of 2026.
Brito will serve as the hitting coach for the reigning Coastal Athletic Association South Division Champions following a decorated collegiate career that included three seasons at Oklahoma under Hall of Fame coach Patty Gasso.
A career .373 hitter with 59 home runs and 198 RBI across 229 games played, Brito helped the Sooners to three straight national titles from 2022-24 after transferring from Oregon as a freshman.
A native of Tustin, California, Brito was drafted fifth overall to the Carolina Blaze in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) allocation draft ahead of the 2026 season. Brito hit .246 with three home runs and eight RBI across 24 starts with the Blaze. She was selected to the 2026 AUSL All-Star Cup and is currently hitting .273, which ranks seventh out of 35 hitters. In addition, Brito was a MLBx Home Derby Participant in Philadelphia this summer for Team Ryan Howard.
Before her time with the Blaze, Brito competed in 17 games for Oklahoma City Spark during the 2025 campaign, compiling a .447 batting average with six home runs and 23 RBI. The right-handed hitter hit safely in 15-of-17 games and closed the year with four home runs in her final six games.
The shortstop/third baseman is a member of the 2026 United States Women's National Team pool for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Brito was a 2026 International Cup Gold Medalist with Team USA under Gasso after she hit .444 (4-for-9) with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored.
Brito earned All-American honors as a junior and senior at Oklahoma, where she hit a combined 35 home runs and 121 RBI. She produced a 1.297 on-base-plus slugging percentage across 2023 and 2024 while also earning First-Team All-Big 12 status each season.
As a sophomore, Brito claimed Second-Team All-Big 12 accolades after hitting.368 with 14 home runs and 46 RBI in her first season in Norman.
Brito was also named NCAA Division I Softball Academic All-America Team Member of the Year. She finished her career at Oklahoma with a .395 batting average, 49 home runs and 167 RBI in 188 games.
In her lone season with the Ducks, Brito earned Second Team All-Pac-12 status and was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team and Pac-12 All-Defensive Team. She batted .299 with 10 home runs, 31 RBI, and 30 runs scored while drawing 15 walks. She committed just four errors in 136 chances and went 81 straight chances without making an error to begin her collegiate career.
Brito was one of three finalists for the inaugural AUSL Rawlings Gold Glove, along with Jadelyn Allchin and winner Sydney Romero in 2026.
