    Volunteer Assistant Coach
Former UNCW standout Steve Elliott begins his sixth season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Seahawk women's soccer program.

The Associate Director in UNCW's School of Health & Applied Human Sciences, Elliott returned to the sidelines of his alma mater after previously serving as a volunteer assistant with the Seahawk men's program for the 2006 and 2007 seasons. He also spent two seasons as an assistant with the Georgia Southern men's program (2003-05) prior to his return to the Port City.

Elliott, who played at UNCW from 1992-96, served as team captain his junior and senior seasons and was named team MVP in 1995. The Bournemouth, England native also played two seasons with the Wilmington Hammerheads of the United Soccer League.

In 1996, Elliott graduated summa cum laude from UNCW. He earned his Master's Degree and his Ph. D. from the University of Virginia. He was named the UVA Curry School of Education Outstanding Doctoral student for his graduating class. At UNCW, Elliott was named the recipient of the 2011-12 Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence and the 2015-16 recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Professorship Award.
