Matt Glaeser

Matt Glaeser embarks on his second season as a member of the UNCW women’s soccer coaching staff and will work primarily with the team’s goalkeepers.

A 2008 graduate of the University of Hartford, the Fredericksburg, Va., native led the Hawks to a berth in the America East Conference championship match as a senior. He was named as the America East Goalkeeper of the Year and was honored as the NSCAA Northeast Region Goalkeeper of the Year after posting a 0.96 goals against average.

A two-year starter for the Hawks, he finished his career ranked third in school history with a 1.17 goals against average while stopping 74.8 percent of the shots he faced.

Glaeser transferred to Hartford after playing two seasons at James Madison University. He appeared in seven games and made four starts.

Following his college career, Glaeser signed with the Western Mass Pioneers of the USL Second Division and played in 20 contests. He also spent time with Pallo-Iirot, a professional team in the Kakkonen (Finnish third division).

After his stint overseas, Glaeser returned to the United States where he played for Miami FC of the USSF Division 2 Professional League and Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League.

In 2014, Glaeser signed with the Wilmington Hammerheads of the USL Pro League and served as the team’s goalkeeper coach in addition to being an active player on the roster.
