A UNCW beach volleyball alum, Kristy Mundy returned to her alma mater as Assistant Coach in 2024.
Since the fall of 2024, Mundy has been actively training and serving as "Coach In The Box" for the Seahawks, notably as the mainstay for Gracie Sistrunk and Lyvia Trimp, who secured Sun Belt Pair of the Year honors in 2025.
Sistrunk and Trimp set program records with a 30-1 record and posted a 25-match winning streak. The duo went 4-0 versus nationally-ranked opponents, including three wins against the Sun Belt Conference champion, Georgia State.
Mundy competed for the Seahawks as an undergraduate and graduated with a BS in Exercise Science in 2020.
Following her graduation, Mundy began coaching youth beach volleyball, and currently serves as Director for the East Coast Volleyball Academy (ECVA) in Wilmington.
A product of Huntersville, N.C., Mundy played outside hitter for Hough High School before committing to UNCW for Beach Volleyball in the program's second year.
