Mikaela Joseph joined the UNCW Sports Medicine staff as an assistant athletic trainer in December 2019.
Joseph, a native of Cary, N.C., provides athletic training coverage for the UNCW women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s golf programs. She is also a preceptor for the Athletic Training Education program.
Joseph earned her Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from the University of North Carolina in 2014, and stayed at North Carolina to earn her Master’s degree in Athletic Training in 2016. While earning her Master’s degree, she worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the North Carolina men's soccer team from 2014 to 2016. Upon graduation, Joseph moved to Elon University, where she served as the athletic trainer for the Phoenix women’s basketball and men’s tennis teams.
Joseph is a BOC Certified and North Carolina Licensed Athletic Trainer. She is also certified as a National Academy of Sports Medicine Performance Enhancement Specialist, an NBCOT certified orthopedic technologist, an American Red Cross CPR instructor, and a Graston Technique Clinician.
Joseph lives in Wilmington with her husband, Graham, and their Bernese Mountain Dog, Goose. They enjoy trips to the beach, kayaking, paddle boarding, and going to concerts.
