Scot Schlein

Scot Schlein begins his second season with the Seahawks after spending three seasons as an assistant with the softball team at Jacksonville.

During his time at JU, Schlein's primary responsibilities included hitting, team defense and scouting.

The Dolphin offense set single-season school records in batting average, home runs and hits. Under his guidance, Schlein helped four players earn Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshmen honors and three made first-team honors, including Sarah Simon, who was named as the 2013 ASUN Conference Player-of-the-Year.

Schlein lettered in basketball and baseball at Lincoln High School and in 2006, he was named captain of the Trojan’s highly-ranked baseball team. In three seasons as a pitcher and shortstop, he helped lead the team to a pair of District Championships and runner-up finishes in the state regionals.

As a senior, due to injuries to many other players, Schlein was asked to play virtually every position on the field and was named as the Utility Player-of-the-Year. That season, he batted .348 and led the Florida Big Bend region in at bats and total assists.

Schlein also distinguished himself as a Babe Ruth baseball player, winning the Kerwin Elliot “Eagle” Award as the league’s most outstanding player, an honor previously given to former major leaguers Dean Palmer and Reggie Jefferson. Tallahassee Babe Ruth baseball is one of the most competitive and highly regarded leagues in the country.

Schlein graduated from Florida State with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. While at FSU, Schlein served internships with the Seminole basketball team under Leonard Hamilton, and as an assistant to the athletic director at Tallahassee Community College. Scot also worked at WTXL – ABC in Tallahassee where he was the editor and floor director of the Coach Bobby Bowden television show.
