Diego Ibarra enters his first season as a member of Coach Kristy Norton's softball staff at UNCW.
Ibarra joins the softball staff after spending the last five seasons at Colonial Athletic Association rival Hofstra. He helped the Pride register 107 victories, along with three CAA Tournament appearances. Hofstra posted a 41-14 record and won the CAA championship in 2018, racking up the program's 17th NCAA Tournament berth.
The Pride led the nation in double plays per game during the 2019 and 2021 campaigns and ranked among the NCAA leaders in batting average.
Prior to joining the Hofstra staff, Ibarra spent one season as the junior varsity baseball coach at St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, N.J., and was the junior varsity softball coach at Immaculate Heart Academy from 2011-15.
A 2008 graduate of Fairfield with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Management, Ibarra owns Rivals Creative Agency, a full-service creative agency that bridges the gap between sports and culture through storytelling, brand building, art and design.
He is also owner of Alphas Alliance, a sports software toolkit for programs, coaches and athletes, and the Be the Best Coaches' Convention.
