David Castille returned to his alma mater in February of 2016 as an assistant coach on the Seahawk Strength & Conditioning staff.

The Raleigh, N.C., native and Millbrook High School graduate is working as a strength specialist at his third institution following stints at UNC Asheville and Texas A&M.

Castille got his start in the field during his undergraduate days at UNCW, completing an internship in his senior year with Head Strength Coach Pat Murphy.

Castille completed his B.S. Degree in Exercise Science in 2012.
Castille then moved on to College Station, Texas, and worked as a graduate assistant for the Aggies and Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Raychelle Ellsworth. He worked with the women’s soccer and softball teams and completed his M.S. Degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sports Physiology in 2014.

The North Carolinian then returned to Raleigh briefly before landing a position as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at UNCA in the summer of 2015. Castille assisted with all of the Bulldog teams, including the NCAA-bound men’s and women’s basketball squads.

A certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), Castille works directly with UNCW’s swimming and diving, softball, volleyball and women’s tennis teams and assists Murphy with baseball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball.

Castille enjoys visiting the beach, being outside, reading and powerlifting.
