Jonathan Bowden begins his fourth season as an assistant coach with the UNCW men's and women's golf programs in 2021-22.
Since joining the programs on Oct 1, 2017, the Furman graduate has been a member of two Colonial Athletic Association men's golf championship winning teams (2018 and 2019) in addition to serving as an assistant coach on the 2018-19 CAA women's golf championship winning team.
Coach Bowden has also helped lead the men's program to the 2018 College Station, Texas, Regional and the 2019 Athens, Ga., Regional. The 2020-21 UNCW men's golf team also earned an at-large berth into the Noblesville, Ind., Regional.
Entering his seventh season of coaching; Coach Bowden has also served as an assistant coach at Memphis, Coastal Carolina and Washington and Lee after graduating from Furman in 2009.
"Jonathan comes from a family with a strong and deep golfing background," said UNCW women's head coach Cindy Ho. "His previous experience as an assistant at different levels of golf will be an asset for us on the course as well as in recruiting. We're looking forward to Jonathan's enthusiasm and contributions to the success of both programs."
While at Furman, Bowden played four seasons for the Paladins with him being a captain his senior year. This included competing one year alongside his brother, Daniel, who is UNCW's head men's golf coach.
Jonathan has served as an instructor at Georgia Tech, Furman and North Carolina golf camps.
