A native of Binghamton, N.Y., Shannon Pease joined the Academic Support staff in the summer of 2013. She was promoted to Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Support Services in the summer of 2016 and named Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Student-Athlete Support Services in February, 2022.

Pease has direct oversight of the Academic and Student-Athlete Development success of UNCW's 19 sports. She is responsible for providing leadership and supervision of the daily operations of the unit. She directly works with men's basketball and women’s tennis programs as academic coordinator.

Before moving to Wilmington, Pease worked as the Football Academic Intern at the University of Minnesota. She earned her Master of Education Degree in Adult and Higher Education/ Intercollegiate Athletics Administration from the University of Oklahoma, where she served as a Graduate Assistant with Oklahoma’s Student-Athlete Development program.
Pease earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Seton Hall University and was a member of the softball team. Most recently, Pease earned a Doctor of Education degree from UNCW in the Spring of 2021.
Pease was inducted into the Susquehanna Valley High School Hall of Fame for her athletic accomplishments. She is an active member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professional and Women Leaders in College Sports.
