Biography

      Rodney Young has played a vital role in the success of UNCW’s student-athletes since joining the department in January of 2006.

      In his chair as Academic Coordinator, Young serves as the academic liaison for the men’s tennis, men’s soccer, men’s track and field, men’s cross country, volleyball and softball teams. He is also the advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

      A native of Raleigh, N.C., Young earned his B.S. Degree in Communications from East Carolina in 1996. He is completed his M.S. in Counseling and Education from ECU.

      Young began his career as a weekend sports reporter and anchor for WECT-TV in Wilmington. He continues to use that expertise as the play-by-play announcer for UNCW women’s basketball.
