Biography

      As the veteran member of UNC Wilmington’s athletic department, Pat Howey has been associated with the program since August of 1985.

      Howey has served in a variety of roles for the Seahawks, moving up the ranks to her current post of Deputy Athletic Director.

      The Wilmington native oversees the general well being of UNCW’s 350 student-athletes and serves as the sports supervisor for men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s golf, softball and baseball.

      Howey is a member of the NCAA Academic Cabinet and is a peer reviewer for the NCAA. She previously held membership on the NCAA Committee on Athletics Certification and the NCAA Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet.

      Howey was a three-sport standout locally at John T. Hoggard High School, competing in softball, basketball and volleyball for the Vikings.

      She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at UNC Chapel Hill in 1985 and completed her M.Ed. in Educational Administration from UNCW in 1993.
