Barbara Kidd is the Athletics Insurance Coordinator and assists UNCW’s student athletes with their sports-related injuries. She joined the Seahawk athletics staff in 2005 and served as administrative assistant to the women’s basketball program until 2011.
Kidd is responsible for the processing of athletic injury claims, reconciliation, including benefit investigations, appeals and answering all reimbursement related questions. She works closely with the athletic trainers, the Office of Institutional Risk Management and the Student Health Center.
Before joining UNCW Athletics, Kidd enjoyed a 20-year career in hotel sales and marketing and 15 years in banking and real estate. During her years in the hospitality industry, she was active in local and statewide civic, governmental and professional organizations.
She was an active member of the Wrightsville Beach Chamber of Commerce for 15 years as a board member and President and VP from 1994-96. She also served as an ex-officio board member of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Cape Fear Coast Tourism Authority.
An accomplished equestrian and certified master gardener, Kidd is a supporter of the Horse Protection Society of NC and the US Equestrian Federation.
She resides in Wilmington with her pet rescues, dog Ginger and cats Barney, Ike, Gus and Buddy.
