WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW women's soccer team played Northeastern to a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon at UNCW Soccer Stadium.
"Credit to Northeastern on a tough match", said head coach
Chris Neal. "Once again, however, we feel frustrated with the final result, based on how the match went and how well our team executed in many phases of the game."
Allie Planeaux opened the scoring for the Seahawks (6-0-6, 1-0-2 CAA) in the 48th minute, finding the back of the net off an assist from
Kamrey Watkins to give UNCW a 1-0 lead. Bridget Durkin of Northeastern (4-4-3, 2-0-1 CAA) answered in the 75th minute to tie the game and end the scoring.
Caigan Leonard led the Seahawks with five shots, including two on goal, while Planeaux added four shots. UNCW finished with 15 shots as a team, while the defensive unit of
Alyssa Chuderewicz, Rachel Fry,
Macy Lutz and
Ava Chuderewicz held the Huskies to five shots.
The Seahawks close out their three-match homestand Saturday, Oct. 3, when they host Elon for their Breast Cancer Awareness game. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at UNCW Soccer Stadium, and the match will stream on FloCollege.
