Banks Joins Sports Performance Staff

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW Athletics department has announced the addition of Dr. Quadrian Banks as an Assistant Director for Sports Performance on Wednesday.

Banks, whose career has included stops at Ohio State and with the National Football League's (NFL) Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles, will work with UNCW's successful men's basketball team. He will oversee all aspects of the Seahawks' strength and conditioning program.

The Ohio native spent nearly a decade in Columbus, where he directed all aspects of athletic performance for the Buckeyes' men's basketball program and spirit groups, including mobility, strength, conditioning, speed and movement training, performance testing, and recovery.

"I am ecstatic about Quadrian joining our staff. He is one of the elite strength coaches in the country and has a wealth of experience working with athletes at the highest level," said UNCW seventh-year head coach Takayo Siddle. "From his time at Ohio State, extending through his experiences in the NFL, he has proven his ability to help develop athletes to their fullest potential.

"He is highly enthusiastic, proficient, dedicated and excited to be a part of UNCW. Help us welcome Coach Q, his wife Ann Marie, son Ryan and daughter Anaya, to the Seahawk family."

Banks came to Ohio State after one year in performance and conditioning with the Colts. Before he worked with Indianapolis, Banks was the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Eagles for three seasons.

Prior to his time in the NFL ranks, Banks served as the Director of Athletic Performance at Gardner-Webb from 2011-13, where he first worked alongside Siddle, then an assistant coach at his alma mater. Banks oversaw the Runnin' Bulldogs men's basketball and football athletic programs while providing direction to GWU's 21 Division I athletic teams.

Other stops include stints at Ole Miss, Richmond, Hampton, Prairie View A&M and Texas, as well as a time with Velocity Sports Performance in Florida.

"I am very excited about this opportunity to be the Assistant Director of Sports Performance at UNCW. I would like to thank Coach Siddle and Michael Oblinger for the clear and transparent communication through this process," said Banks. "My family and I look forward to getting to Wilmington and spending time in the UNCW Seahawk community. We can't wait to get to work!"

He was named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association on May 13, 2020, and was honored at the CSCCA National Conference in May of 2021.

Banks attended the University of Texas at Austin and received his undergrad degree (Kinesiology – Health Promotion and Fitness) in 2003. He earned a Masters of Education at Prairie View A&M in 2005. He completed his PhD in Sport Management with a focus on Kinesiology at Ohio State in December of 2024.
