Women's Tennis Powers Past Sacred Heart

ORLANDO, Fla. – UNCW cruised past Sacred Heart, 5-2, on Thursday at the USTA National Campus.

The Seahawks pushed their record to 3-1 while the Pioneers slumped to 5-5 and saw their two-match winning streak halted.

The Seahawks swept the doubles point, with Simay Keles and Lucia Gomez clinching the point with a 6-3 victory on court two.

In singles, Elif Albayrak made it 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win, and Gomez followed with a 7-6, 6-0 win for a 3-0 advantage. Albayrak moved to 4-0 this season with the win.

Eda Arli delivered the clinching point on court one with a 6-4, 6-2 at number one singles.

The Seahawks finish their trip to Florida on Mar. 7 at Stetson with a 10 a.m. start.
