Men's Tennis Drops West Coast Swing Opener

EUGENE, Ore. – UNCW opened its West Coast swing, in which it will face three ranked opponents, with a 6-1 set back to Oregon on Sunday at the Student Tennis Center.

The Ducks, who are ranked 56th in the ITA rankings, improved to 9-2 to open the season while the Seahawks dropped to 2-5.

Brady Hussey delivered UNCW's win on the day, taking his match in straight sets (6-3, 7-5) at number six singles.

At number one singles, reigning Coastal Athletic Association Player of the Week Lukas Steffen was edged by Vlad Breazu, 7-5, 6-4. At the fifth singles, Oscar Baumgartner fell 6-4, 6-4 to Lachlan Robertson.

The Seahawks visit 31st-ranked UC Santa Barbara on Mar. 4 for a 4 p.m. EST start.
