Miralrio, Keay Lead Seahawks Over Cougars

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The No. 24 UNCW men's soccer team remained unbeaten in Coastal Athletic Association play with a 2-1 win over Charleston on Saturday night at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

The Seahawks (10-2-2, 6-0-1 CAA) secured their first double-digit win season since 2019 and locked up home-field advantage throughout the CAA Tournament with a victory against the Cougars (7-4-4, 2-3-3 CAA).

The teams combined for 22 shots, including 17 in the second half that saw all three goals scored.

Senior Bryan Miralrio, who delivered the game-winner in his first game at UNCW in 2023, scored on his Senior Night as well with a 51st minute strike to break a scoreless tie on assists by Osei Gyamfi and Lucas Siikala.

Exactly one minute later, a foul inside the Charleston box set up freshman Cameron Keay's team-high sixth goal of the season on a penalty kick straight down the middle.

Charlestond trimmed the deficit to 2-1 with under 15 minutes to go on a Dan Toulson score, aided by Ryan Watson.

Miralrio, along with Christian Acevedo, Alex Hornada, Jackson Kirila, Ryan Lee, Trey Smiley and Grant Stewart were honored in a Senior Night ceremony before the game.

UNCW closes out the regular season at William & Mary next Saturday at 2 p.m. The Seahawks will then host the CAA South Final on Nov. 8.
