UNCW Falls Into Losers Bracket

Seahawks face CofC at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – UNCW will have to make its run to a Coastal Athletic Association title through the loser's bracket after falling to top-seeded Northeastern, 11-1, on Friday at Patriots Point.

The Huskies improved to 47-9 with the win and will face either UNCW Or Charleston at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Seahawks fell to 33-23 with the loss.

Northeastern broke the game open with seven runs in the eighth inning to make the final 11-1.

Jordan Gottesman (11-2) struck out 12 in seven innings for the win.

NU banged out 15 hits, including four home runs.

Connor Marshburn took the loss for UNCW to fall to 4-3.

The Seahawks managed just three hits in the game, including Bryan Arendt's seventh homer of the season.

UNCW faces the College of Charleston at 1 p.m. on Saturday with the winner advancing to the championship game.
