Seahawks Drop Midweek Contest vs. #16 Duke

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW softball team dropped a 9-0 decision in six innings to No. 16 ranked Duke on Wednesday afternoon at Boseman Field.

The Seahawks saw their six-game win streak come to a close and stand 21-13. The Blue Devils improved to 26-12 with their fifth straight win.

Duke's Hailey Shuler (3-0), Cassidy Curd and Gabriella Mike combined for a one-hit shutout with the only damage being a Morgan Britt single.

The Blue Devils broke the game open in the third with a two-run triple by D'Auna Jennings followed by a two-run shot of the bat of Kairi Rodriguez to make it 5-0 after getting on the board with a run in the second inning.

UNCW's Peyton Eckert (1-4) surrendered four runs in a total of five innings.

The Seahawks resume CAA play this weekend vs. Delaware from Apr. 4-6.
