UNCW Unable To Complete Rally, Falls In Extras

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Alex Bouche's grand slam in the top of the 10th inning lifted East Carolina to a 10-6 win over UNCW on Tuesday at Brooks Field.

The Pirates improved to 19-10 with their fourth straight win while the Seahawks fell to 14-15.

In the 10th, the Seahawks walked the bases loaded with one out setting the scene for Bouche, who launched his fifth home run of the season to right center for a 10-6 lead.

The Seahawks, who trailed 4-0 after the top of the first, drew even, 6-all, in the bottom of the eighth on a pinch-hit homer from Ryker Glaska. It was his first of the season.

Bouche finished with two hits and five runs batted in. Kenan Bowman held game-high honors with four hits and scored twice.

Ethan Young (3-0) was credited with the win in relief.

Cyle Phelan was tagged with the loss to dip to 1-2.

Mac Gillespie belted a two-run home run in the sixth inning. It was also his first of the season.

Both pitching staffs combined for 20 walks on the evening.

UNCW heads back to conference play this weekend when they visit Hofstra for a series beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday.
