UNCW Swimming & Diving Sweeps CAA Titles, AGAIN!!

HAMPTON, Va. – For the third consecutive season, you can color Coastal Athletic Association swimming and diving teal as UNCW swept the championship meet on Saturday at the Hampton Aquaplex.

For the Seahawk men, it was the program's fourth straight and the 17th overall. The women earned their sixth overall.

UNCW topped William & Mary by 44 points in the women's meet while the men won comfortably by 92.5 points.

Trailing by 10 points entering the final two events, the women grabbed the lead with xx points on the 1-meter board and then capped the win with a second-place showing in the 400 Free.

Silas Crosby defended his title in the 1650 Free when he earned UNCW's first gold medal of the session after topping the field with a time of 15:28.33.

Maeren McGonigal, a freshman, collected her third gold of the championships when she posted a school-record winning time of 1:55.97 in the 200 Back. It was UNCW's first gold I the event since the 2011 championship.

William Carrico, who became the first Seahawk to win the 200 Breast, earned his third gold in the championship when he clocked in at 1:55.65, a school record.

Senior Mac Russell broke the program's 100 Free record twice on the final day, including a time of 43.15 seconds and finishing third. In the prelims, he went 43.34.

Also medaling for UNCW on Saturday were Cameron Snowden (Silver, 100 Free), Gil Shaw (Broze, 200 Breast), Aidan Duffy (Bronze, 200 Breast), Dave Fitch (Bronze, 200 Fly) and both the women's and men's 400 Free Relay (Silver).
