Softball Runs Win Streak to Five Games

CHARLESTON, South Carolina – The UNCW softball team continued to mix strong pitching with clutch and powerful hitting in another two-game sweep on Saturday over Central Connecticut State and Charleston Southern at the CSU Sports Complex.

The Seahawks (7-2) extended their win streak to a season-high five games with an eight-inning 4-2 comeback win over the Blue Devils (0-3) and a 12-2 run-rule victory against the host Buccaneers (2-6).

UNCW will look to continue its winning ways on Saturday vs. CCSU at 10 a.m.

GAME 1 | UNCW 4, Central Connecticut State 2 (8 inn.)
Morgan Britt's go-ahead two-run double in the eighth inning capped a late rally for the Seahawks, who edged the Blue Devils in their first extra-inning contest of 2025.

Sophomore Makayla Huddleston (4-1) tossed 5.1 scoreless relief innings with a career-high seven strikeouts and helped engineer a late rally after the Seahawks trailed 2-1 through five innings on a pair of CCSU third-inning home runs.

Britt tied the game in the sixth with a fielder's choice that brought home Ava Tsiouplis.

Two innings later, the sixth-year outfielder again came up to the plate with the bases loaded and shot a double to left field to score the eventual game-winning runs.

The Blue Devils' Alina Varga (0-2) pitched all eight innings and allowed five hits and three earned runs.

The Seahawks worked a season-high nine walks, including five in their three run-scoring innings.
