UNCW To Host Live Oak Bank Holiday Classic

Colgate, Sam Houston and Appalachian State visit Trask Coliseum in November

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW Director of Athletics Michael Oblinger has announced the Seahawks will host the 2024 Live Oak Bank Holiday Classic, a multi-team exempt event, with Sam Houston, Colgate and Appalachian State rounding out the tournament field.

The round-robin event will take place from Nov. 27-30 at Trask Coliseum. Wednesday, Nov. 27, will have the Appalachian State and Sam Houston open the tournament followed by the Seahawks and Colgate. The classic returns to action with two games on Nov. 29 and 30.

"We are excited to bring our fans more games in Trask Coliseum," said Oblinger. "These holiday tournaments are played all over the country and adding Wilmington to that list will be a wonderful accomplishment for our university and community. Thanks to Chip Mahan, BJ Losch, and Live Oak Bank for their continued support."

The tournament field combined for 94 wins with all four programs winning at least 21 games.

"Hosting an MTE was a top priority for us going into the offseason. Not only does it give us more home games but it gives us something that we can call ours," said Head Coach Takayo Siddle. "As a program, we are excited about the opportunity to play three quality opponents in front of our fans. We want to continue to grow this tournament and make it an attractive destination for years to come.

The Seahawks finished last season with a 21-10 record, including wins over Kentucky and a sweep of Coastal Athletic Association champion College of Charleston. UNCW owned a record of 10-2 at home last season and had eight sellouts.

Colgate (25-10) captured both the Patriot League's regular season and conference tournament titles and played Baylor in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Appalachian State (27-7) topped the Sun Belt Conference with a 16-2 mark and was also the league's regular season champion. The Mountaineers played Wake Forest in the opening round of the National Invitational Tournament.

Sam Houston State (21-12) was Conference USA's regular season champion in its league debut.

All six games will be produced by the Seahawk Digital Network and streamed on FloHoops.tv.

All-session passes are on sale now starting at $40 per seat. Individual passes will go on sale at a later date.

All current Seahawks Basketball season ticket holders will receive an-email notification on how to purchase tickets to the Live Oak Bank Holiday Classic. Any new season ticket packages will have the option to opt into the Holiday Classic all-session pass at the time of purchase.
