Magazine Sets Career-High In Opener

WILMINGTON, N.C. – A'syia Magazine collected 11 kills to lead UNCW in a season-opening 3-1 loss to East Carolina on Friday in the Hampton Inn and Suites Classic at Hanover Hall.

The Pirates improved to 2-0 on the season while the Seahawks dropped to 0-1.

For Magazine, a sophomore, her 11 kills eclipsed her previous career-high of nine set last season against Towson. Liv Womble, a graduate student, added nine kills in her UNCW debut.

ECU's Fran McBride matched Magazine for match-high honors with 11 kills of her own.

The Seahawks continue tournament play on Saturday with two matches. UNCW takes on Loyola Maryland at 10 a.m. and concludes the day with a 5 p.m. start against Queens.
