UNCW Drops Into Elimination Bracket Following Loss

Georgia advanced to the regional final with an 11-2 win on Saturday over UNCW

ATHENS, Ga. – Kolby Branch's second inning grand slam gave Georgia an early lead and the bullpen delivered five innings of shutout baseball as UNCW moved to the elimination bracket on Saturday with an 11-2 loss to the top-seeded Bulldogs at Foley Field.

The Bulldogs raised their record to 41-15 with the home win while UNCW, which saw its five-game winning streak halted, fell to 40-20.

The Seahawks take on Georgia Tech in a rematch of game two on Sunday at noon in an elimination game.

Branch's 16th homer of the season gave the Bulldogs a 5-1 lead. Georgia had loaded the bases with a pair of walks and a hit batter before Branch's roundtripper.

Slate Alford held game-high honors with three hits while Corey Collins added two hits, including a home run.

DJ Radtke, the first of three relievers used by UGA, was credited with the win to push his record to 1-0.

Brock Wills collected two hits and an RBI for the Seahawks while Trevor Marsh extended his hitting streak to 17 games with a second inning homer, his 15th of the season.
