Thach Becomes UNCW Career Home Runs Leader

Seahawks fell to Hofstra 5-2 on Saturday

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Tanner Thach became UNCW's all-time Home Runs leader on Friday when he connected on his 41st career roundtripper in a 5-2 loss to Hofstra at Brooks Field.

The Pride (21-29) improved to 11-12 in the Coastal Athletic Association and is tied for sixth with William & Mary. The Seahawks, who have clinched a tournament berth already, fell to 34-17 overall and 18-5 in the league.

Due to travel for Hofstra, Sunday's game has been moved up to noon.

Hofstra starter Carlos Martinez held the Seahawks in check over 6.2 innings to run his record to 5-4. Martinez allowed a run on four hits and walked five but recorded six strikeouts.

Mike McKenna converted a four-out save for his ninth of the season.

Steve Harrington drove three runs for the Pride, including two on a homer in the top of the fourth.

Thach finished with two hits, adding a single in the eighth inning.

RJ Sales (9-3) suffered the loss, allowing three runs on nine hits over six innings of work.
