Women's Tennis Opens Weekend With Win

DURHAM, N.C. – UNCW opened a road weekend on Friday with a 5-2 win in women's tennis action at North Carolina Central.

The Seahawks improved to 9-5 with the non-conference win while the Eagles fell to 5-13.

Eda Arli and Elif Albayrak earned the doubles point and a 1-0 lead for the Seahawks with a 7-5 win over NCCU's Jade Houston and Candice Bernier.

The Eagles erased that early deficit with wins on courts one and three.

Gabbie Glickstein won on court six, by retirement, for the Seahawks.

Alecia Eberwein moved the Seahawks in front, 3-2, with a victory on court four and Lucia Gomez sealed the win with a three-set win on court two.

The Seahawks visit Elon on April 6 at 1 p.m. for a Coastal Athletic Association match.
