Charleston Southern Stuns UNCW With Late Homer

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Dakota Miller's three-run homer in the top of the eighth inning lifted Charleston Southern to a 4-2 win over UNCW on Tuesday at Brooks Field.

The Buccaneers up their record to 18-26 with the road win while the Seahawks dropped to 26-15.

In the Buccaneer eighth, CSU opened the inning with a single off the bat of Rivera and Conway drew a four-pitch walk off reliever Case Stroup (2-1). Both runners moved up on a wild pitch. Following a ground ball out, Miller belted the first pitch he saw from reliever Ryan Calvert for a three-run homer to left for a 4-2 lead.

Parks Ledwell (5-1) earned the win with three innings of one-run relief. Evan Truitt recorded a two-inning save for his third of the season.

Kevin Jones had two hits and drove in a run for UNCW.

Stroup took the loss, allowing two runs in 1/3 of an inning.

The Seahawks head to William & Mary for a three-game Coastal Athletic Association series beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
