Late Homer Sinks Seahawks At Northeastern

BROOKLINE, Mass. – Northeastern's Alex Lane had five hits, including three home runs, as the Huskies evened the Coastal Athletic Association series on Saturday with a 10-7 win at Friedman Diamond.

The Huskies halted a modest three-game losing streak and improved to 28-10 and 10-4 in the league. UNCW, which saw its seven-game winning streak snapped, dropped to 25-14 and remained in first place with an 11-3 record.

With the game tied in the bottom of the eighth, the Huskies took advantage of a UNCW error and a walk to set the stage for Lane, who homered off the first offering he saw to give NU a 10-7 lead.

Lane, who homered in the second and seventh innings, scored three runs and drove in five.

Dennis Colleran (1-0) earned the win in relief and Jack Beauchesne nailed down his fourth save.

Aiden Evans, Bryan Arendt and Kevin Jones had two hits apiece for the Seahawks. Trevor Marsh had a grand slam.

Connor Kane (1-2) took the loss for the Seahawks.

The series concludes on Sunday with a 1 p.m. start at Friedman Diamond.
