Top-Seeded Seahawks Advance To CAA Semis

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – UNCW advanced to the Coastal Athletic Association Championships semifinals with a 4-0 win over the College of Charleston on Friday at the Mackesy Tennis Center.

The top-seeded Seahawks (15-5) knocked off the eighth-seeded Cougars (12-11) for the second time this season with the victory.

UNCW secured the doubles point behind wins from Reece Falck and Harold Huens (6-0) on court one and Gabe Hurtado and Trey Mallory posted a 6-1 victory on court three to clinch the point.

Jonathan Baron gave UNCW a 2-0 lead with a straight-set (6-0, 6-0) win on court six and Hurtado moved UNCW to match-point with a 6-1, 6-0 win on court four. For Hurtado, it was his team-leading 13th win of the season.

Mallory ended the match with a 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 win on court five.

The Seahawks take on the winner of Monmouth and William & Mary on Saturday at Noon.
