UNCW Cruises In Series-Clincher, 14-2

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW tied a season-high with 14 runs on 15 hits as the Seahawks powered past Towson, 14-2, to clinch another Coastal Athletic Association series on Saturday at Brooks Field.

The Seahawks improved to 22-13 overall and 9-2 in the conference to remain in first place. The Tigers, meanwhile, dropped their third straight to slide to 8-25 and 3-8.

Leading the offense was Jac Croom, who finished with three hits and four runs batted in. Four Seahawks added two hits apiece, including Bryan Arendt, who was 2-for-5 with four RBI, two coming on his seventh homer of the season.

Jacob Shafer allowed two runs, one earned, in picking up the win to improve to 3-4. Shafer walked one and allowed six singles over six innings of work.

Every UNCW starter had a hit on the afternoon.

Taye Robinson and Bryce Frederick both had RBI singles for Towson.

Starter Jake Michel (2-1) took his first loss of the season, lasting just one inning and giving up five runs, four earned, on five hits.

The series concludes with a 1 p.m. start on Sunday.
