Seahawks Close Season at CAA Championships

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior Evan Miller paced all scorers with 24 points, but No. 11 Northeastern pushed past UNCW, 66-60, in Wednesday's First Round of the 2024 Coastal Athletic Association Women's Basketball Championship at the Entertainment & Sports Arena.

The Huskies move to 10-16 and advance to play No. 6 Towson on Thursday night. The Seahawks close the season at 5-25.

Miller, who drained four three-pointers, was two points shy of her career-high and surpassed 20 points for the fourth time this season. The Charlotte, N.C. native was joined in double figures by fellow Queen City product Taylor Henderson, who contributed 13 points and nine rebounds.

Northeastern's Carlisle topped the Huskies with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Senior guard Derin Erdogan was an assist short of a triple-double with 14 points, 10 boards and nine helpers. Queliz rounded out Northeastern's double-digit scorers with 10 markers.

The contest was a hard-fought battle with seven ties and eight lead changes, including a Mary Ferrito layup that evened the game, 53-53, with 5:15 left in the contest. The Huskies then outscored the Seahawks 13-7 down the stretch to earn the win.

Miller was sensational throughout the game with 15 points at the half with Northeastern in front 33-32. The Seahawks edged the Huskies 13-12 to even the game at 45-all ahead of the final period.
