WBB Fan Guide: at Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. – UNCW and Head Coach Nicole Woods open the 2024-25 season on Monday when they visit Virginia Tech for a 5 p.m. start at Cassell Coliseum.

While welcoming nine players to the program in the off season, the Seahawks due return a bulk of scoring from last year as 83% of points return. Leading that charge is preseason second-team All-Coastal Athletic Association honoree Taylor Henderson at 14.6 per game.

SCOUTING THE HOKIES
Head Coach Megan Duffy enters her first season with the program, having come to Blacksburg from Marquette, where she guided the Golden Eagles to the 2024 NCAA Tournament … In five seasons at MU, she fashioned a 110-46 record that included a 64-30 mark in BIG EAST play … VT finished 25-8 overall and 14-4 in the ACC … Advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 92-49 win over Marshall, but dropped a 75-72 decision to nationally-ranked Baylor the next game … Matilda Ekh, a senior, is the top returning scorer from last season at 10.4 points per game.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Seahawks visit Chapel Hill, N.C., on Nov. 7, for a 7 p.m. tip at North Carolina. The game will be streamed on ACCNX, part of the ESPN+ platform. UNCW hosts NCCAA member Clinton College on Nov. 10.
