Volleyball Drops 5-Setter At NC A&T

GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina A&T overcame a 2-0 deficit by winning the final three sets to edge UNCW in a five-set thriller on Saturday in Coastal Athletic Association volleyball action at the Corbett Center.

The Aggies, who will be the fifth seed in the upcoming conference tournament, capped their regular season with a record of 17-9 overall and 12-6 in the league. The Seahawks concluded their season with marks of 7-18 overall and 4-14 in the conference.

After the Seahawks jumped in front 2-0 a 25-23win in set two, the Aggies won set three, 25-22, set four, 25-21 and then held off the Seahawks, 15-13, in the fifth set.

Grace Melnick led the Seahawks with 10 kills as UNCW saw six players finish with at least six kills. Marnie Ursem finished with six kills, hit .500, and recorded five digs and five blocks.

Lilly Kirtley-Peyton held match-high honors with a career-best 20 digs for the Seahawks.
