Silver Matches Career-High at Charleston

CHARLESTON, South Carolina – Freshman Kylah Silver matched her career-high with 17 points for the UNCW women's basketball team, who dropped a 94-59 decision at Charleston on Sunday afternoon at the TD Arena.

The Cougars upped their overall record to 13-5 with a 5-2 Coastal Athletic Association mark. The Seahawks dipped to 3-15 with a 1-6 record in league play.

Silver finished with 17 points for the third time this season along with a team-high seven rebounds to lead the Seahawks. Joining the Greenville, N.C., product in double-digits was Evan Miller, who chipped in 12 points.

Charleston's Alexis Andrews topped the Cougars with 22 points. Freshman Taryn Barbot collected 16 points. Three Cougars – Jenna Annechiano, Anika McGarity and Jada Logan – recorded 12 points while Annecchiarico's 10 assists gave her a double-double.

Silver opened the game with a three-pointer from the top of the key before the Cougars rattled off 11 unanswered points. A jumper by Henderson and trey by King put the Seahawks back within three points, 11-8, with 5:07 left in the first quarter.

Charleston then scored six straight points to push the lead back to nine, 17-8, and concluded the opening period in front 19-10.

The Cougars gradually expanded their lead with a 21-14 advantage in the second quarter to enter halftime ahead 40-24.

UNCW returns home for a pair of games next weekend beginning on Friday vs. North Carolina A&T at 7 p.m.
