Seahawks Open Trip With 6-1 Victory

STATEN ISLAND, New York – The UNCW women's team kicked off a three-match road trip to New York with a 6-1 victory over Wagner early Wednesday at the campus tennis courts.
 
The Seahawks, 7-6, snapped a four-match losing streak and improved to 3-2 on the road this spring. Wagner sank to 1-10.
 
UNCW nailed down the doubles point for the seventh time this spring by sweeping all three matches. Stela Joksimovic and Meredith Taylor clinched the point with a 6-2 victory over Susan Schoenfed and Emma Lofstedt.
 
The Seahawks then won the first four matches off the court in singles to win easily. Senior Anna Daniels clinched the match for the third time this season with a 6-1, 6-3, verdict vs. Wagner's Paula Ysabelle Uy.
 
UNCW continues its three-match road trip to the Northeast by visiting Hofstra on Friday (Mar. 24) for a 2 p.m. match. The Seahawks then wrap up the busy week by taking on CAA newcomer Stony Brook on Saturday (Mar. 25) at noon.
