No. 34 Charlotte Blanks UNCW In Women's Tennis

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – No. 34 Charlotte skipped through the doubles point and tacked on six singles victories to shut out visiting UNCW, 7-0, early Saturday in women's tennis at the LifeTime Fitness Center.
 
The 49ers improved to 8-4 overall and 5-0 at home this season after winning their fifth match in the last six outings. UNCW dropped to 4-2 and 1-3 on the road.
 
In doubles, UNCW's No. 3 tandem of Stela Joksimovic and Meredith Taylor pushed Charlotte's Emma Wilkins and Lucie Petruzelova before falling in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (1).
 
Charlotte then sailed through the six singles matches, winning five in straight sets. UNCW freshman Eda Arli was the only Seahawk to win a set before losing, 6-2, 1-6, 6-4, to Petruzelova at the No. 2 position.
 
The Seahawks return home to entertain Mount Olive on Friday, Mar. 3, in a 2 p.m. match at the UNCW Courts.
