Henry's Hat Trick Leads Seahawks Over Spartans

GREENSBORO, North Carolina – Junior Madison Henry recorded the eighth hat trick in UNCW women's soccer history to push the Seahawks past UNC Greensboro, 5-1, on a rainy Sunday afternoon at UNCG Soccer Stadium.

The Seahawks improved to 4-2-1 this season on the back of Henry's career-best seven-point day, which included her third assist of the season. The Spartans dipped to 3-3-1.

Henry notched all three goals in the second half after UNCW took a 1-0 lead into the intermission. The 5-7 midfielder came out of the break on the attack, netting her first goal of the day three minutes into the second period.

After UNCG cut the Seahawks' lead to 2-1 on a Hannah Morton marker in the 55th minute, Henry responded ten minutes later with a strike through the top center of the goal. The junior was assisted on the score by midfielder Morgan Nanni.

Henry and sophomore Kayla Burroughs assisted freshman Issy Bryant's first career goal in the 84th minute to extend UNCW's lead, 4-1.

Less than a minute later, Henry found the back of the net for the third time on a pass from Sam Francis. Henry, from the right side, shot the ball through to the bottom center of the goal to cap her memorable day.

Henry leads the Seahawks with a career-high five goals and three assists this season.

The Seahawks conclude their non-conference season at Campbell on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m.
