UNCW Falls To James Madison, 15-6

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The UNCW pitching staff combined to allow 15 runs on a season-high tying 18 hits as James Madison evened the Colonial Athletic Association series with a 15-6 win on Friday at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Dukes snapped a five-game skid with the win and moved to 27-25 overall and 12-10 in the league. The Seahawks, meanwhile, saw their own five-game winning streak halted and fell to 30-22 and 14-9. With the loss, the Seahawks need to win the series to secure the second seed in the upcoming CAA tournament.

Led by Trevon Dabney and Kyle Novak, both with three hits and three runs batted in, six Dukes had multiple-hit games. Dabney, Novak and Fenwick Trimble all homered.

Reliever Anthony Piccolino (1-0) earned the win with 5.2 innings of shutout relief.

Jac Croom and Noah Bridges both had two hits for the Seahawks while Ron Evans and Brooks Baldwin both homered in a five-run fourth inning.
UNCW starter Cyle Phelan (2-2) took the loss, allowing five runs in the first inning.
