ELON, North Carolina – No. 4 Elon won the doubles point and added three straight singles victories as the Phoenix eliminated No. 5 UNCW, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championships early Friday at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
 
The Seahawks closed out their seventh season under Hans Olsen with a 12-7 record. The Phoenix, 16-8, move on to battle top-seeded Charleston in the semifinals on Saturday at 11 a.m.
 
In Friday's match, the Phoenix jumped ahead early by claiming the doubles point after the No. 2 doubles team of Victoria Saldh and Julie Ball was victorious.
 
UNCW's top tandem of Sasha Belaya and Lauren Gish won the first match off the court in doubles, defeating Elon's Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding, 6-3. The Phoenix then squared the doubles portion of the match with a win at the No. 3 position before Saldh and Ball nailed down the point following a narrow 7-5 decision against Zoe Huffman and Stela Joksimovic at No. 2 doubles.
 
The Phoenix stayed hot in singles, sweeping the first three matches for the shutout. It was Elon's second win over the Seahawks this spring and its first against UNCW in CAA Tournament play.
 
Senior Olivia Archer started singles action with a 6-2, 6-1, decision over Joksimovic at the No. 4 slot and junior Shauna Galvin's 6-2, 6-1, verdict vs. junior Lauren Robbins pushed the score to 3-0. Tanik, a junior, then clinched the match by defeating Belaya, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.
