LYNCHBURG, Virginia – UNCW and Liberty entered Thursday night's non-conference women's soccer game at Osborne Stadium with hopes of extending their respective win streaks.
While the 0-0 double overtime draw kept the teams from winning a fifth consecutive contest, it allowed the Seahawks and Flames to remain unbeaten in their last five contests.
The Seahawks close out the non-conference part of their schedule with a 4-1-1 mark, while Liberty moved to 4-3-1 on the season.
Freshman goalkeeper
Kaylie Bierman made five saves to lead the Seahawks to their third consecutive shutout while senior
Randi Palacios notched six saves for Liberty, which outshot UNCW by a slim 10-9 margin.
UNCW embarks on the Colonial Athletic Association portion of its schedule on Sunday, Sept. 26, with a 1 p.m. contest against defending league champion Elon. Liberty remains at home for a 1 p.m. contest against UNCG on Sunday, Sept. 19.
