WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW received a stellar performance in the circle from graduate student
Rylee Pate, but it was not enough as the Seahawks dropped a 1-0 verdict to James Madison in the Colonial Athletic Association series opener at Boseman Field on Saturday evening.
The loss dropped the Seahawks' record to 8-16 overall and 4-3 in the CAA. James Madison moved its record to 17-1 overall with a 6-1 mark in league play.
Pate, who stands 1-7 on the season, scattered four hits and conceded just one unearned run in the complete game effort. The Mount Olive, N.C., product also struck out five while lowering her earned run average to 3.13.

Anna Knox and
Janel Gamache registered the Seahawks' two hits in the contest.
Freshman
Alissa Humphrey earned the win in the circle for James Madison, allowing just two hits with 11 strikeouts while posting her fourth shutout of the season.
